Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds are perhaps one of the least understood entheogens. In India, the seeds have been used medicinally in the Ayurvedic system for centuries. But there is speculation that HBWR seeds could possibly be one of the main ingredients in the magical "Soma" drink that has been lost to history, as well as a visionary plant used in rituals in the Pacific Islands.

Shamans reportedly eat in small quantities (3-4 seeds), either whole or extracted.

They would scrape off as much of the fungus-like coating as possible and then briefly flame the rest. Flaming without scraping would result in the seeds burning.

Visionaries would experience LSD-like effects but not as intense and with less visuals. The journey would last 6-8 hours, and then tranquil feelings would last an additional 12 hours. The natives would then enter a deep and refreshing sleep, however some shamans would experience a hangover characterized by blurred vision, vertigo or physical inertia. Many experience nausea, which may be caused by the layer of fuzz on the seeds although this is disputed.

Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds (Argyreia Nervosa) contain roughly ten times more Lysergic acid amide (LSA) than Morning Glory seeds.
